Hamden Economic Development continues workforce series

HAMDEN – The Department of Economic and Neighborhood Development will host the third panel that is part of the workforce series “Everyone Gets a Job; Exploring Career and Technical Educational Opportunities.”

This series is focused on career opportunities for Hamden residents, particularly children in the public school system. All sessions will be video-taped.

The next session will be:
VOCATIONAL CAREERS: THE TRADES: Thursday February 21st, 630 PM Miller Senior Center
Learn about good paying jobs in Plumbing, Electrical, Auto-Tec, HVAC and General Construction
  • Mary Moran from Eli Whitney Technical School
  • Eddie Ryan for Ryan Oil and Heating: Plumbing and Heating Careers
  • Dan Fuller: Gateway Community College: Auto Technology Careers
  • Amy Blackwood for the AFL-CIO to discuss Construction Careers for Women.
The upcoming session will be:
  • Manufacturing: Tuesday March 5th 630 PM Miller Library Friends Room
You will hear presentations from manufacturers, about the many forms of modern manufacturing careers and where the jobs are.
Information sessions for parents were held in December. Those sessions explained the panel series, the current job market and information about career opportunities at Hamden High.
Other upcoming sessions in the winter and spring and 2019 will include:
  • Information Technology: Coding, HTML and Artificial intelligence
  • Sustainability and Environmental Science
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Job Readiness: Internships, Appearance, Interview Skills, Financial Literacy, and Student Debt
