HAMDEN – Three people reported to police that the car they were in was shot up Wednesday afternoon in the area of Woodin Street.
The incident began at around 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, when they were parked in the lot at Putnam Place on Dixwell Avenue, according to Hamden Police spokesman Capt. Ronald Smith.
“An individual arrived shortly thereafter and attempted to open the passenger door of their vehicle,” Smith said in a release Friday. “They subsequently fled from the area at a high rate of speed, while being chased by the individual, who was operating an “SUV type” of vehicle.”
They ended up on Woodin Street, where the person in the SUV fired several shots at the vehicle, Smith said.
“The victim’s vehicle subsequently lost control, near Wilmot Street in New Haven,” Smith said. “Fortunately, a New Haven Officer was in the area. The victim’s vehicle was struck by multiple gunshots. No injuries were reported.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Brian Stewart of the Hamden Police Department Detective Division at (203) 230-4040.
