HAMDEN – Police are searching for two men who allegedly broke into a State Street market in the early morning hours of Feb. 3.

On Feb. 3 at approximately 4:30a.m., Hamden Police responded to Country Food Market at 2215 State St. on the report of a burglary in progress,” police spokesman Capt. Ronald Smith said Thursday in a release. “Central Communications advised responding officers that two males were observed exiting the store and entering a large, white pick-up truck.”

The two men got into the store by breaking the glass front door with a hammer, Smith said. They took money from the cash register and then made off in a white pickup truck, possibly a Dodge Ram, that was parked in the parking lot, Smith said.

“The vehicle was last observed traveling at a high rate of speed southbound on State Street,” Smith said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Sean Dolan of the Hamden Police Department Detective Division at (203) 230-4040.
