Motor vehicle stop results in drug charges for New Haven man

HAMDEN – A New Haven man is facing drug charges after he was pulled over early Tuesday morning on Dixwell Avenue.

Officer Andrew Lipford saw a car “commit several motor vehicle violations” while driving south on Dixwell Avenue shortly before 5 a.m., Hamden Police spokesman Capt. Ronald Smith said in a release Tuesday night.

After pulling the car over, Lipford searched it and found crack cocaine and heroin, Smith said.

He arrested the operator, identified as Miiguel Nonossi, 28, of 11 Ramsdell St., New Haven, charging him with possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, assault on a police officer, interfering with a police officer, operating while under suspension, unsafe turn, failure to use a signal and failure to obey a stop sign, Smith said.

As he was being arrested, Nonossi struggled with officers, Smith said.

He was held on $50,000 bond and will be arraigned in Meriden Superior Court.
