HAMDEN – A 14-year-old is facing sexual assault charges for allegedly assaulting another child under 10 years old this summer.
Because of the age of the accused, Hamden Police did not release their named or even gender.
The incident happened in the southern section of town in August, according to Hamden Police spokesman Capt. Ronald Smith. The department’s Special Victims Unit was assigned to investigate the report, Smith said in a release Tuesday.
The exact age of the victim was not released, nor the sex of the victim, but Smith did say that the victim is under 10.
After the investigation, the courts issued a warrant for the arrest of the 14-year-old, who was picked up Tuesday and is facing charges of first-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor.
The 14-year-old is scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Juvenile Court on Jan. 9, according to Smith.
