HAMDEN – The spirit of giving filled Thornton Wilder Hall in the Miller Memorial Central Library and Cultural Complex on Dec. 8 as Quinnipiac University and the Hamden community team up to make the holidays a little happier for senior citizens.
The eighth annual Hamden Senior Holiday Gift Run luncheon was a collaboration between Quinnipiac’s AM 1220 WQUN, the Miller Senior Center, the Hamden Regional Chamber of Commerce and VNA Community Healthcare.
Santa Claus handed out gifts bags packed with non-perishable food, gloves, hats, scarfs, blankets, gift cards and toiletries that had been collected through donations at 20 Hamden locations. WQUN employees and Hamden Mayor Curt Balzano Leng helped spread holiday cheer.
About 250 gift bags and hundreds of gift cards will be distributed to senior citizens, including the homebound, in Hamden this holiday season thanks in large part to the Hamden business community.
